Los Angeles Chapter Sierra Club Natural Science Section / Camera Committee Red Rock Canyon SP Carcamp - Photography October 30-31, 2004 RESERVATIONS REQUIRED

Get spooked on a Halloween hike in Nightmare Gulch! Explore the park’s movie history by chasing the phantoms of Radar Men from the Moon, The Mummy, Flash Gordon, and his arch-nemesis, Ming the Merciless, on the planet Mongo! Photograph formations such as Camel Rock, the Temple of Heliopolis, and Cerberus, the three-headed dog who guards the entrance to Hades! Visit cliffs appearing in works of famed photographer Edward Weston. Moderate hikes of 2 to 6 mi rt each day. Ltd space due to first come/first serve campground (camp fees will be shared.) Camping: It is a first come first server campground, leaders will arive early and stake out sites.
Meals: Camp Potluck Saturday, you are on your own for the rest.

What To Bring

Bring your camera, film, batteries, tripod, etc.(detail photo equipment list). Be prepared for chilly weather (high desert elevations), as well as sunshine. We will be using Family Radio Service (FRS) channel 7 code 14 to communicate, bring them if you can.

Directions from Los Angeles area:

• Take the GOLDEN STATE FWY / I-5 exit towards SACRAMENTO
• Take the CA-14 NORTH exit towards LANCASTER / PALMDALE
• Continue on CA-14 NORTH.

Location: The park is 25 miles northeast of Mojave on Highway 14.
