WELCOME TO DIZA LAKE RECREATION AREA
Diaz Lake is located on the northern edge of the Mojave Desert at an elevation of 3,700 feet above sea level and three miles south of Lone Pine, California. The lake was naturally formed by the earthquake of 1872 when 18 miles of the Owens Valley floor dropped some 20 feet.

Average temperature is 70 degrees Fahrenheit
Winter temperatures can be zero
Summer temperatures can run 100+
Prevailing wind comes from the Southwest
Summer nights are generally balmy and quite comfortable.
CAMPGR0UND OPEN YEAR ROUND
200 campsites with picnic tables and fire rings.
Most sites are located under groves of cottonwood and willow trees.
YEAR ROUND FISHING
The winter and spring months of October through May 15 offer excellent fishing for rain bow trout, bass and catfish.
"Diaz Lake Fish Derby" is held the first Saturday in March.
WATER SPORTS
May 15 through October is the time designated for water skiing.
As the water begins to warm, other activities associated with water increase i.e., swimming, jet skiing, sail boards, sail boats, etc.

Inyo County Parks and Recreation offers a 15-day- Senior Citizen Permit for those over 62 years of age at a cost of $ 50. This permits the holder to stay in any County of Inyo operated campground*.
